VI Systems introduces VCSEL test boards for up to 70 Gbit/s NRZ

VI Systems introduces a set of single channel multimode fiber coupled transmitter and receiver test boards for data rates of up to and above 70 Gbit/s in a non-return-to-zero (NRZ) modulation format. The new generation of test boards consist of on the latest 850 nm VIS VCSEL chip, VIS PIN chip photodetector and VIS BiCMOS VCSEL driver and transimpedance amplifiers. VI Systems GmbH, a leader in ultra-high speed components for short reach data communications, introduces the T70-850TB transmitter test board and the R70-850TB receiver test board for data rates of up to and above 70 Gbit/s in a low latency non-return-to-zero (NRZ) modulation format for operation without or with minimal equalization. The transmitter test board includes an 850 nm multimode VCSEL (vertical cavity surface emitting laser) and a low power VCSEL driver. The receiver test board consists of a PIN photodetector within a spectral range of 700-890 nm and an energy efficient transimpedance amplifier (TIA). These key components are assembled onto a high-performance radio frequency (RF) printed circuit board. The boards feature two high-frequency electrical connectors for differential input or output and a set of control pins. The optical connection is realized with a lensed plastic coupling unit coupled to a 50/125 um multimode fiber with a FC/PC connector. Target applications are short reach optical transceivers modules and on-board systems for low latency data transmission in the datacenter and supercomputer industry. VI Systems will present two invited talks at the OFC 2020 conference with the following titles: • Development of VCSEL and VCSEL based links for data communication beyond 50 Gb/s • Optical interconnects using single mode and multi mode VCSEL and multi mode fiber Visit us at OFC 2020 in San Diego, CA from Mar 8-12, 2020 in booth #2421.
